FRENCH CUISINE

We have found many lovely boulangeries, crêperies and restaurants whilst exploring our region.  The Côtés d’Armor is bursting with an amazing choice of restaurants too... we are spoilt for choice!

Brittany is well known for tasty thin pancakes known as galettes (savory) and crêpes (sweet) with assorted fillings. One of our favourites has to be the galette ‘Jambon, Emmental’ (ham and cheese) or the ‘Complete’ which also has an egg on the top! Crêpes can be as simple as with sugar and butter, or piled high with ice cream and cream.  There are many different varieties and you will find countless Crêperies in the area.

To help wash them down, the traditional drink to have is Breton apple cider, a low alcohol, slightly effervescent drink. It is traditionally served in a cup and sold by the pitcher and can be found all over Brittany.  Another favourite quick snack has to be the 'Croque Monsieur' which is a hot sandwich, also made with ham and cheese. The 'Croque Madame' is very similar, but with a fried egg on top.

Here are some of the fantastic snacks and meals we have enjoyed during our visits, to help whet your appetite!

Check out our 'Places to Eat' page which lists all the restaurants that have been sampled by us and our guests and given the thumbs up!
